Having done lots of investigation I concluded that although it appears to be the the LCD panel at fault the NVIDIA drivers were also not able to handle it and so don't detect the HDMI/DVI port as connected with the LG panel. Well this really is a bit of a saga! I'm certainly learning a lot about EDID and the likes! I have placed a query with LG and await their reply, if I get one I'll post it here.

Assumimg I am remotely correct here I must assume my video card DVI port supports at least EDID v1.3 I guess my old LCD panel was using EDID v1.3 and that worked fine, this LG panel fails on all three HDMI ports, but my toshiba panel works fine, the toshiba is brand new so must be EDID v1.3 or 2 as well (?), so I don't see how connecting to HDMI port 3 on the LG still fails if that is also v1.3. Is EDID used over the PC (anologue) port? If so is it different to the protocol used over the HDMI interface? I guess it must be because the DVI interface on the computer fails to detect the TV, but over the anologue interface it works fine.ĬRETU22 suggests the 32LG5000 TV on HDMI ports 1 and 2 uses EDID v2, but HDMI port 3 uses v1.3. My TV, 32LG5000 tells the PC via my NVIDIA GEFORCE 9400GT (or onboard) graphics card that it is there by way of the EDID communication but if this communication falls down the PC will not be able to see the TV(?). EDID comes in different versions including 1.3 and 2. Have to be honest I'm new to this EDID and HDMI stuff, but my understanding is that these electronic devices talk to each other via a standard method, EDID.
